Sangmin You is a highly accomplished architect with nearly two decades of experience shaping skylines in New York City and around the world. As Principal at H Architecture since 2022, he brings deep expertise from senior design and leadership roles at internationally renowned firms, including Richard Meier & Partners Architects (RM&P) and Diller Scofidio + Renfro (DS+R).
At H Architecture, Sangmin leads a diverse portfolio of significant projects: a 55-story mixed-use high-rise in Lower Manhattan, a gallery project in Tribeca, a 55,000 sq. ft. virtual digital museum at the iconic Chelsea Piers, and the award-winning “Convergence Special Video Content Cluster” in Daejeon, Korea. His work also includes participation in high-profile international design competitions.
His portfolio reflects a mastery of design and technical excellence. At DS+R, he led construction documentation and administration for landmark projects such as Microsoft’s East Campus “Square Building” in Seattle and the 130,000 sq. ft. Google NYC Campus at Pier 57 in Chelsea. Over more than 13 years at Richard Meier & Partners, Sangmin served as Senior Designer, Project Architect, and Project Manager on signature works including the 42-story residential tower, 685 First Avenue - Richard Meier’s pioneering non-white tower adjacent to the UN Headquarters - and the JEI Gangnam Commercial Building in Seoul. His contributions also extend to many award-winning residences in New York and around the world, as well as globally recognized projects like Oxfordshire Residence in the UK and Flying Point Residence in Southampton, NY.
Sangmin earned his professional master’s degree in architecture from Columbia University, where he was honored with the Lucille Smyser Lowenfish Memorial Prize. He is a Registered Architect in the state of New York and New Jersey, a proud member of the American Institute of Architects (AIA), and a LEED Accredited Professional since 2009, underscoring his commitment to sustainable and innovative design.
