The design concept seeks to maintain the Tribeca building’s industrial character by preserving its core structural and building system elements while upgrading finishes to meet modern standards, creating a dynamic, multi-dimensional art space that seamlessly integrates the old with the new. The project aims to deliver a modern and sophisticated gallery that reflects the unique identity of HW, carefully considering operational needs to accommodate regular exhibitions held three times a year. The program includes a main exhibition space on the ground floor, artwork storage in the basement, and a VIP lounge on the second floor, ensuring both functional efficiency and an elevated, contemporary aesthetic.
The design must maintain the integrity of the existing building while incorporating elements that effectively represent the gallery’s identity. The overall aesthetic should balance contemporary elegance with a strong artistic presence, ensuring that the space enhances the viewing experience while supporting the functionality required for exhibition operations.
Rather than merely serving as a venue for displaying artworks, the HW Gallery New York aims to become a cultural landmark that delivers a meaningful and immersive experience to visitors.
